Pre-move planning
Route survey, access checks, services planning (power, air, water), foundation suitability and machine-specific lifting requirements all need to be confirmed before move day.
Planning, decommissioning and recommissioning support for CNC machine relocations across the North West, North East and Midlands.
Relocating CNC machinery is one of the higher-risk jobs in any workshop. A move that goes badly can mean weeks of lost production, damaged equipment, missed accuracy after recommissioning and unexpected costs. Ringstones helps companies plan and execute machine relocations so the work is predictable and the machine comes back into production quickly.
Whether you're moving a single CNC lathe between sites, relocating a full machine shop, or bringing in a used machining centre from another facility, the principles are the same: plan properly, document the configuration, disconnect carefully, transport safely, then recommission with checks that confirm the machine is performing as it should.
We work alongside specialist hauliers and rigging contractors where heavy lifting and transport are required, and provide the engineering knowledge needed to disconnect and reconnect machines properly. Pre-move inspection, post-move levelling, alignment checks and first-cut validation all form part of the process.
Route survey, access checks, services planning (power, air, water), foundation suitability and machine-specific lifting requirements all need to be confirmed before move day.
Safe disconnection of power, coolant, hydraulics and pneumatics. Preservation of the machine's setup configuration, backup of parameters and tool data, and protection of vulnerable parts during transit.
We work with specialist heavy-lift contractors to make sure the machine is rigged, loaded and transported correctly. Spreader bars, lifting points and weight distribution are all confirmed in advance.
Once in place, the machine needs levelling, alignment, services reconnection, parameter restoration and validation of accuracy before returning to production.
A test cut and inspection confirm the machine is performing as it was before the move — or better, where the opportunity was taken to refurbish slides or ways during the relocation.
Relocation work spans typical workshop machinery. Larger or heavier machines may need additional specialist input — we can advise on that early in the planning process.
