Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our machine tool repair, servicing, breakdown and relocation work. If your question is not answered here, call 07837 569193 or send us an enquiry.
What services do Ringstones Machine Tool Services provide?
Ringstones provides machine tool repair, fault finding, breakdown support, servicing, preventative maintenance, machine installation and relocation, condition inspections and general engineering support.
We work on both modern and legacy machinery, supporting current production equipment as well as older machines where manufacturer support, technical information or replacement parts may be more difficult to obtain.
What types of machinery do you work on?
We support a wide range of modern, current-production and legacy CNC and conventional machinery, including CNC machining centres, CNC lathes, sliding head lathes, manual lathes and milling machines, saws, grinders and pillar drills.
Our engineers work across machines of different ages and manufacturers, from modern CNC equipment through to older machinery that may no longer have full manufacturer support.
What areas of the UK do you cover?
Ringstones is based in New Mills, High Peak.
Our regular service area covers the North West, Yorkshire, the Midlands and North East, including Manchester, Stockport, Derbyshire, Sheffield, Liverpool, Birmingham and surrounding areas.
We can also undertake specialist work throughout the UK, including machine relocations, commissioning, inspections and other projects where specialist engineering support is required.
Do you offer emergency breakdown call-outs?
Yes. We provide responsive breakdown support for machine faults and production-critical issues.
Our priority is to identify the cause of the fault, minimise downtime and, where possible, repair the machine during the initial attendance.
How quickly can you attend a breakdown?
We aim to have an engineer on site within 48 hours of receiving a breakdown request.
Attendance will depend on engineer availability, location and the nature of the fault, but production-critical breakdowns will always be prioritised wherever possible.
How does your call-out charge work?
Our standard call-out charge includes travel and the first two hours on site.
This allows our engineer to inspect the machine, investigate the fault and, where possible, undertake the initial repair.
Any additional labour hours, replacement parts or further works required will be agreed with you in writing before additional chargeable work is undertaken.
Do you provide planned servicing and preventative maintenance?
Yes. Ringstones provides one-off servicing, planned preventative maintenance and scheduled maintenance visits.
Our servicing can include machine condition inspections, lubrication checks, adjustments, identification of worn components and recommendations for future repairs.
Regular servicing can help identify developing faults earlier, reduce unexpected downtime and build a useful maintenance history for your machinery.
Do you supply and fit replacement parts?
Yes. Where replacement parts are required, Ringstones can assist with sourcing and fitting suitable components for both modern and legacy machinery.
For current machines, we can source suitable manufacturer or equivalent replacement components where available.
For older or obsolete machinery, we can also investigate repair, refurbishment, alternative components or specialist manufacture where appropriate.
Parts availability will depend on the machine, manufacturer and component required.
Do you provide written inspection or condition reports?
Yes. We provide written copies of our inspection and condition reports, giving you a clear record of the machinery inspected, its condition, any faults or concerns identified and our recommended next steps.
More detailed machine or workshop condition surveys can also be provided where documentation is required for insurance, asset management, acquisitions, investment decisions or future maintenance planning.
How do I book an engineer or request a quotation?
You can contact Ringstones by telephone, email or through the enquiry form on our website.
When contacting us, providing the machine make and model, serial number where available, location, description of the fault, any error codes and photographs or videos will help us understand the issue and arrange the most appropriate support.
